New Move: Bridging Basics

While in San Francisco a few weeks ago I had opportunity to work out with Robert Tsai, a trainer at the San Francisco Bay Club. He led me through a ton of challenging moves, but one simple modification really stuck out to me: Whenever we did bridging—a move I regularly do on my own and teach to all of Pilates students—Robert kept his toes lifted so that his weight was on his heels, not his whole feet. I tried it and immediately felt the effects. This simple shift of weight had my glutes and hamstrings working overtime, providing a shortcut to leaner legs and a lifted rear.
